When it comes to high-profile outdoor media, few locations offer the visibility of an airport terminal tower. Elevating a brand on that scale requires much more than simply printing a banner; it demands rigorous structural planning, custom fabrication, and expert installation techniques.

When executing the iconic Lexus banner wraps at Edmonton International Airport (YEG) in partnership with Pattison Outdoor, Burke Group set out to create a flawless, high-impact presence that thousands of travelers would see every single day. Here is how precision production and structural engineering brought this massive commercial signage vision to life.

Burke Group Large Scale Printing

Structural Engineering and Custom Cabling

Wrapping a major airport structure comes with strict safety and architectural requirements. Before a single foot of material could be produced, the Burke Group team worked directly with structural engineers to assess the building’s load capacity.

To ensure the structure could safely support the physical weight and wind load of the massive banners, a custom heavy-duty cabling system was engineered and installed around the perimeter of the tower. This specialized dynamic anchoring setup provided the rock-solid structural foundation needed to keep the signage securely fastened in all seasonal weather conditions.

Large-Format Production and Precision Finishing

The physical scale of the project was immense. The banners were produced at Burke Group in large 16-foot wide by 60-foot long sections. Joining the panels of this magnitude into a single, cohesive display requires meticulous finishing work on the production floor.

To secure the panels seamlessly across the entire face of the tower:

  • Specialized double-grommet reinforced points were set every four feet along the edges of each panel.
  • Panels were systematically tied and joined together along the engineered cabling system.
  • Heavy-duty zip-tie tensioning was utilized to pull the material taut against the cable framework.

This precise panel-matching and finishing technique eliminated visible seams, delivering a smooth, unified graphic wrap across the elevated facade.

High-Frequency Campaign Rotations

Because commercial signage campaigns regularly refresh to reflect new model releases and seasonal messaging, efficiency and repeatability were critical. Over the lifespan of the campaign, Burke Group successfully swapped out these massive tower graphics approximately three times per year.

Each rotation required swift execution to minimize disruption at the airport while maintaining the exact technical standards required for airport authority compliance and safety.

The Impact of High-Visibility Commercial Signage

The Lexus tower wrap stood as one of the most recognizable commercial signage installations in the Edmonton area, welcoming travelers and showcasing the power of large-scale outdoor advertising.

From initial engineering consultations and load calculations to large-format printing, custom finishing, and scheduled swaps, Burke Group delivers commercial signage that marries creative vision with technical expertise.
